I predominantly work with children who have moderate, severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities.
My expertise is planning, preparing and teaching Pre-Formal and Semi-Formal individualised curriculums.
I do not follow the national curriculum, children working significantly below key stage need a curriculm as unique as them. I liaise with other professionals to deliver the most suitable rounded education.
I have a secure knowledge of EHCPs, as well as the Annual Review process.
Where appropriate I will work with students towards entry level qualifications such as AQA units or Art awards.
I have extensive experience working with children with visual impairments, Deafness or who are Deaf/blind.
Making learning accessible to individual students is key to unlocking their academic potential. I incorporate sensory activities and hands on resources to all sessions. I am comfortable performing lessons using AAC or BSL and I can produce resources with symbol software or braille.
I have worked with children with autism, attachment disorder, anxiety, sensory processing disorder and atypical sensory profiles and I adapt all lessons to meet the needs of the individual.
